Durham University
Stockton Rd
Durham City
DH1 3LE

Durham University is the third oldest university in England and one of the world’s leading centres of scholarship and learning. Study with us and you will have access to teaching by world experts, award-winning study facilities, and extensive collections of books and learning resources. These are all accompanied by an unrivalled college system where students play a leadership role in shaping their communities. You have the space and support to be who you want to be and the opportunity to get involved in a whole range of activities, clubs and societies.

As a community to call home for three or four years, Durham University takes some beating. Durham City itself is an architectural gem, with the world famous Castle and Cathedral overlooking the River Wear, and other well-preserved historic buildings – many of which are part of the University. Queen’s Campus, Stockton is a modern, purpose built campus in a lively, waterside location by the River Tees – located approximately 23 miles from Durham City.

Both locations offer a range of academic facilities and innovative modern buildings with all the amenities you will need for the best possible student experience. What’s more, we’re on the doorstep of the North East and the experiences it has to offer. You can find everything you need to ensure your time at Durham University is as varied and rewarding as you want to make it.

Study at Durham University and you’ll become part of a diverse academic and social community with students from over 130 different countries. Through our unique college system, you will find a warm welcome and a home-away-from-home feel which will make settling in and starting your university life a smooth and easy transition.

Our colleges provide accommodation and pastoral care, but also have sports, arts and social facilities. This ensures that as a Durham student, you’ll experience a university education which matches academic excellence with personal development to enable you to reach your potential in whatever you wish to persue.

Our community does not stop once you complete your studies and graduate, and you’ll find that you remain part of a supportive community for life. Durham alumni (our former students) return to the University time and time again and many reunions are held around the world throughout the year. Friends made at Durham University really are for life.
